Mac -- Mapping network drive i.e. M drive on the new file server "Helix"

For OS.X.3 and below, there is no longer any auto-mapping of your M drive upon login. (OS.X.4 is ok) The path of your M drive has also changed. See below on what to do after the upgrade:

For OS 9 and older, you will need to install a software called DAVE to connect to your network drive. Please refer to Using DAVE on Mac's with OS 9 and older.

Go to Go, Connect to Server..., type in:

smb://helix/users/put-your-username-here

For access to the HGTEMP directory use:

smb://helix/hgtemp

You will be asked to log in with your Gonda login, which remains unchanged.

You may add it as one of your favorite servers so it will always be listed.

If you're having difficulties after following this how-to, feel free to contact the IT Helpdesk, we are standing by each morning after the phases of upgrade.
